Tift 9 Bahia seed. Bahia grass is native to Mexico and South America, but has been naturalized in North America and other places. It prefers sandy soils and is tolerant of shade. It is also fairly hardy, tolerating salty conditions and drought extremely well. Tift 9 Bahia grass is an excellent permanent pasture grass. Grows well on a variety of soils and stands grazing well. Bahia grass has narrow leaves and large stems. Also suitable for lawns. Bahia grass endures light to moderate frost. Maybe planted any month (preferably February-July). Tift 9 Bahia grass is used primarily as a forage. The nutritive value remains high when mature. It is also valued as an erosion-controlling soil stabilizer, as well as for its productivity, ease of establishment and persistence. It makes a relatively low-maintenance turfgrass as well, with less disease and insect problems than some of the other warm season grasses. If broadcasting, use one forty pound bag of seed per acre. and for lawns, plant 5-7 lbs per 1,000 sq. ft. Should always be covered lightly with soil when planted.
